Chair of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Professor Jane Halton said she was “disconcerted” to learn a driver transporting airline crews wasn’t vaccinated. He was the first infection in Sydney’s growing coronavirus cluster, which has now hit 31.
“When I did my review of hotel quarantine last year and, to be fair, international crew were not part of the remit, I actually drew people’s attention when I debriefed them to this particular issue. I actually said that this was a potential hole and people needed to be very, very aware that these people and their transport arrangements had to be a high priority,” Professor Halton told Today.
“Now we know that people come in and out of systems, their jobs change … but we need everybody, including the people who deliver things like transport, to be on the same program.”
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard refused to be drawn yesterday on the fact the man wasn’t vaccinated.
