Paul Jennings’ former St Kilda pad for sale with new twist

No. 20 Acland Street, St Kilda, is for sale.

The former home of children’s author Paul Jennings has been transformed into a modern beach haven on a “future billionaires’ row”.

The Round the Twist creator and his actor partner, Mary-Anne Fahey, sold the Acland St property for $1.95m in 2017.

It has since been fully renovated by the new owners who have turned the residence, which was also a brothel in its heyday, into a luxurious “resort-style” abode.

The property has been fully renovated on the inside.

It features a “resort-style” pool …

… and has high ceilings throughout.

Whitefox director Marty Fox said the grand character home offered up the best of the beachside area’s sought-after lifestyle.

He said its colourful history as a brothel “back in the day” added to the character of the property.

“You’ve got a facade that is more than 100 years old in one of those picturesque tree-lined locations, combined with a beautiful modern renovation, in a location that has historically offered an incredible lifestyle,” Mr Fox said.

“It has a beautiful resort-style pool and swim-up bar-like seating all around.

“And it’s down the road from the Saint Moritz (luxury development), which is the future millionaires’ – or billionaires’ – row.”

Set across two levels, the property features high ceilings, hardwood floods and period details.

At the front of the house, on the ground floor, a relaxing lounge space, bedroom and bathroom can be found.

One of the property’s three bathrooms.

Plenty of room to store your wine.

The bedrooms are nice and spacious too.

Continue through to a large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area complete with sleek black cupboards, an oversized Carrara marble bench, dual Vintec wine fridges and Smeg appliances.

At the rear, stackable windows open out to a tiled outdoor dining and entertainment space, and a luxurious pool.

The wardrobe of your dreams.

The home was made for entertaining both inside …

Three bedrooms are on the first floor, including a spacious main bedroom with an ensuite, a walk-in wardrobe and a private balcony.

Mr Fox said there had been considerable interest in the home, with more than 30 groups inspecting it last week.

He said the vendors had a “growing family” and were looking to upgrade.
