Five facing serious charges over Uber driver carjacking Adelaide news

Three children and two young men are facing serious charges following an alleged carjacking in Adelaide‘s north.

The group, aged between 15 and 19, are accused of bashing an Uber driver after allegedly luring him to a Parafield Gardens home before stealing his Kia Sportage.

Police are investigating whether a baseball bat was used in the alleged assault.

Their alleged joyride through the northern suburbs came to a crashing end at Klemzig shortly after midnight.

“I heard a smash out the front. I walked out and they were in the car … so I came back in grabbed my phone and called the cops,” local resident Chaz Llewellyn told 9News.

The group fled the scene on foot, only to be tracked down by the police helicopter a few streets away.

The four arrested at the scene have all been charged with aggravated assault and illegal use of a motor vehicle. One was also charged with assaulting police.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have dashcam of the stolen car.

The Uber driver was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with minor injuries.
