Albanese must issue a ‘strong statement’ on media diversity royal commission

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese needs to issue a “strong statement” on whether the Labor Party will rule out a judicial inquiry into Australia’s media diversity if elected, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

It comes after Shadow Communications Minister Michelle Rowland told Sky News Australia she does not support a royal commission following a Senate inquiry report which revealed its findings on the matter.

“It was good to see Michelle Rowland rule that out there,” Mr Clennell said.

“Anthony Albanese has to do the same because how do we even know Michelle Rowland’s going to be communications minister in an Albanese government.”
