Govt, Infyosys to meet with taxpayers

NEW DELHI: An immediate resolution to the glitches on the new income tax (I-T) portal may not be in sight.
Seven days after finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged the concerns from users to tech major Infosys, the government on Tuesday said that it will meet company representatives along with auditors, consultants and taxpayers on June 22. Although the department and Infosys may be working to fix the problem, discussions on a full resolution of the problems are still a week away after which the deficiencies may be addressed.
“The new portal has been fraught with several technical glitches/issues leading to taxpayer inconvenience. Written representations on the problems/difficulties faced in the portal have also been invited from the stakeholders. Representatives from Infosys team will be present to answer queries, clarify issues and receive inputs on the working of the portal, to remove glitches and sort out issues faced by the taxpayers,” the Central Board of Direct Taxes said.
